Tokyo, New Year

Tokyo, New Year

New Year, what a fascinating event it is.!
People enjoy New Year in their own tradition in many countries.
In Japan, people go to temples on New Year's Eve, Dec 31 to hear 108
bells ringing out the old year. We consider that 108 bells purify our
spirit of evil thoughts which comes from Buddhism.
After welcoming the New Year, we pray for the welfare of the household
or personal request. There are some very popular temples and shrines in
Tokyo, but we will encounter terrible crowd. So I prefer to go to a
local temple that I can go there on foot.
I go to Honmonji Temple on every New Year's Day.
