Bangkok: Waste Problem

In Bangkok, separated collection is unfamiliar yet.
But it seems that waste problem is recognized as social problem. Actually, I come across the government's official information on TV, " No need for plastic bag."
We don't want to see plastic bags floating in canals or Chao Phraya River, do we?

Hua Hin: Songkran Festival
Hua Hin is located in 200km south of Bangkok. Pattaya is on the opposite shore of Gulf of Thailand. I spent in Hua Hin during Songkran Festival.
It is held from 13 April to 15 April annually. Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year, a.k.a. Water Throwing Festival.
Tourists can make it with local people by throwing water.
But frankly speaking, I don't care much for extravagant Water Throwing. In my opinion, it spoils its meaning. One reason is caused by drunken youngsters who bring struggles and road accidents. The government set up this year's Songkran as "Dry Songkran".
It must have the effect of Dry Songkran.

Tokyo, Chinese New Year
As you know, most Japanese don't celebrate Chinese New Year. But like the rest of country, there are some Chinatown in Japan, that is Nagasaki, Kobe and Yokohama.
This year, Chinese New Year was 9 Feb. I went to Yokohama Chinatown.
I thought most shops and restaurants ware closed and Chinese ware celebrating each other with firecracker. But contrary to my expectations, the town seemed business as usual. I should have been to there New Year's Eve.

Tokyo, Remember Shakti
I attended a concert of Remember Shakti yesterday.
There are 5 talented musicians in the band.
The Band:
John McLaughin_guitar
Zakir Hussain_tabla
U. Shrinivas_mandolin
V. Selvaganesh_kanjira, ghatam, mridangam
Shankar Mahadevan_vocal
Playlist:
5 In The Morning, 6 In The Afternoon
Girikaj Sudha
Maya
Lotus Feet
Mo No Pa
Sakhi
Kaju
Nyati
5 Peaces
I have their live performing DVD which was recorded in Bombay, 2000. The concert was basically taken over the DVD's. They blend traditional Indian music in contemporary music.
I felt yesterday's performance was more modernized than ever before.
Because this is Tokyo, not Bombay?
Could be. I saw few people put on saree and turban there yesterday.
This year is 2005, not 2000?
Could be. They'll evolve from year to year.
